9:30 to 10:45 AM: orientation. Please arrive as early as possible, particularly if you have never played in a tournament before.
11:00 AM: Play starts. There will be a mid-afternoon coffee break.
5:00 PM: Awards

| Format and Divisions: |
|
One division, open only to newcomers and players rated under 1100. Speed matchups followed by Swiss pairings. (The director will explain the pairing system at the start of the tournament.)

Please bring a deluxe (turntable) set and tiles if you have them. Please bring a *chess clock* if you have one. We will have chess clocks for sale or rent; the rental charge of $3 can be applied toward purchase of a clock. Note that smooth-faced tiles are preferred but not required for tournament play; these will also be available for sale or rent.
